Garaj Mahal est un super-groupe de san Francisco, réunissant Eric Levy (claviers), Fareed Haque (guitare), Kai Eckhardt (basse) et Alan Hertz (batterie). Après avoir sorti 3 albums live ("vol.1", vol.2" et "vol.3"), il sortent enfin en 2003 leur premier album studio, "Mondo Garaj", en fait enregistré avant les lives en question. L'album est une merveille de rock psychédélique instrumental, croisant de multiples influences telles que John Scofield, John McLaughlin ou Frank Zappa (pour ne citer que les plus évidentes). En bonus, voici un track inédit par rapport à cet album et aux 3 lives, l'instrumental "D-Tuned", gentiment mis à disposition par nos amis de Jambase.com. Jetez-donc une oreille sur cette fusion jazz-funk techniquement assez incroyable, quasi-breakbeat lacéré de riffs zappaiens en diable!
