Dans cette suite directe de "Freak Out", Zappa se lâche. Les morceaux sont pour la plupart plus étoffés et le format pop n'est plus de rigueur, laissant place a la véritable composition ("Invocation and ritual dance of the young pumkin" - titre qui parle de lui même). Les Mothers eux-mêmes subissent une transformation puisque 4 nouveaux membres font leur apparition. Comme le titre le laisse présager, la musique ici est éclatée, ne servant plus de simple support aux paroles. Zappa s'engage dans la voie de la composition absolue sans frontières ni limites. On y décèle même un extrait de 'Petroushka' de Stravinski. Zappa invente le sampling.
