Diplo - I like Turtles

Diplo - I like Turtles
(mixed CD) Mad Greasy MAG001, 2007-12-03

Info :
The Mad Decent main man drops a jaw dropping mix CD showing just why he is one of the coolest DJs and producers on the planet right now. Somehow managing to bring together hip hop, crunk, dancehall, crank (means something different in Manchester, that does), Queen, White Stripes, house, techno, Bat For Lashes, MIA and Schooly D amongst others over 39 tracks of quick mixed brilliance! This fella will have you dancing to stuff you thought you hated, while scratching your head and grinning like a fool. And then finish off with 'Do The Bartman' and make it sound logical. Amazing.

Grooshka, a lot of the same stuff as the Essential Mix, but about half as long, and this one fits on a CD. :-D

I LOOOOOOOVE this mix... I woould never catch myself listening to the trax on 80% of this mix, specifically the hip hop stuff or the dubby stuff. Now i fucking love the songs..like Soulja boy and the first track.. that song that goues or that song that goes "WHOOP WHOOP!".. Jellybean's "Sidewalk Talk" is a remnant of the eighties that was due a comeback..that rap is genious.. and the Bartman.. brought back memories .. THis is the best mix I have heardin a long long while..and I like techno! lol.. My #1 for the year.. ithis gets more ipod-play then everything else combined,.WHOOP WHOOP!

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
