Press Release :
Behind this cheerful and dark stage name, taken from a song by Jimmy Helms, hides the face of a man called Jérome Caron. This music lover of slender figure but full of vigour, raised by blues and pop music, has more than one string to his bow. Always on the air, one hand stuck on his vinyl records, the other on his turntable, this music leader polishes his passion. His started at Yellow Production, before becoming a famous producer himself (NRK, Supra, Freerange) as well as a famous remixer (Bang Bang, Vista le vie). As a mixture of know-how and influences, Jérome Caron created BlackJoy in 2002. The first EP is out on Project, and Untitled become a immediate classic. To such an extend that Freerange will license it 5 years later, adding new remixes frome Kerri Chandler, Stephen Goldman and Solid Groove.

He builds up his music adventure on meetings, in particular with Thomas Naim, exceptional guitarist who composed two brazil jazz albums for Tom&Joyce; François Faure, pianist virtuoso who shows his talent on Ostinato’s keyboards, and Guillaume Farley, disconcerting bassist and leader of Naturalibus.

As a result of such an explosive mixture, the group records its first opus called Time, released on Project rec. in October 2007.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
