En May 2002, le guitariste Michael Bizar (AJ Croce, Wayside, Citrus) lance un nouveau groupe conceptuel, avec au piano électrique et à l'orgue Hammond B3 Simon Rochester (!Tang, Tangria), à la basse Murph (Citrus, Freddy Jones Band) et à la batterie Lucas Carlton (Home At Last, Wayside). Le groupe s'appelle Bizar Bazaar et joue tous les mardis dans un club de la Bay Area de San Francisco. Jusque là ok tout est "normal"...
Venons-en alors au fameux "concept": chaque semaine, Bizar Bazaar se présente avec un nouvel invité de luxe, parmi ce qu'on trouve de mieux dans les musicens funk, jazz et jam bands du coin. Les reprises de standards soul/jazz/funk abondent parmi les quelques originaux du groupe, et sont à chaque fois réinterprétés avec une énergie des plus rock'n'roll. Voilà de la "FRESH ROOTS MUSIC" comme on aimerait volontiers en entendre un peu plus dans les clubs français!
