Xrabit + DMG$ - Love Of My Night

Xrabit Damaged Goods Love Of My Night
Xrabit + DMG$ - Love Of My Night
(Digital) Big Dada BDDNL144, 2009-05-18

The Texas-Dalston axis return with the third single from their marvellous debut album and it's a cracker. "Love Of My Night" details the traumas and madness of the one-night stand and works less as brag about how Trak Bully and Coool get theirs than as a cautionary tale on the (very funny) dangers of mixing Jaeger and Red Bull. Xrabit once again shows his production smarts by mixing pure booty rhythms with sparkling cascades of synth work. It shows why there's such a buzz around this producer. And, if you really weren't sure, check out his superb, housed up remix of the same tune or his original version of the psychedelic drugs tune, "R We Friends."

Album "Helllo World" picked up great press in the UK and is starting to generate some real momentum in the States, with Spin, XLR8R and the hulfe influential allhiphop.com all getting right behind it. With some crazed live shows at SXSW and a US tour with 2 Live Crew in the works, Xrabit & DMG$ are finding love wherever they go…

PRESS:
"Some exciting new hip hop voices have just entered the scene" - Time Out
"A hip hop scene-shaking album... the hippest thing to come out of Big Dada in a long while" - Dazed
"A really great rap party; DMG$ smack up fools whilst XRABIT turns in a beat anyone could groove to." - Spin
"Hello World from beginning to end is an introduction into a world of absolute coolness. Whether or not any of us are worthy of their presence, Xrabit + DMG$ extend the invite to all who want to have some fun." - allhiphop.com
"Hello World is a great party record full of ass-shaking beats and loose-lipped boasts... it's about to get warm and maybe introspection is best put on hold for the moment. Now g-g-g-git it girl…' OKAYPLAYER.COM
"Fresh, pop-savvy hip hop lean from just left of the Dirty South" - Fact
"Connecting the dots between futuristic funk and old-school hip hop imagery, this is a fine piece of electro-flavoured digital dopeness. Undeniably addictive" - iDJ
"It carries a very 09 bounce. F-R-E-S-H." - HHC
"The trippy sense of fun is a winning formula" - Metro
"Teaming inventive, genre demolishing tracks unafraid to sound like they're having fun with the Texan contingent's welcome tongue-twisting witticisms, it's an unlikely but rewarding experiment. A slice of hip hop awesomeness." - Clash
"Finally, a hip-hop album that owes as much to '80s Saturday morning cartoons as it does U.K. grime and crunked-up Southern playalistics. From the get-go of opening track "Damaged Goods," London-based producer Xrabit goes buck wild at the mixing console, while Texan MCs Coool Dundee and Trak Bully get busy on the mics. Word up." XLR8R
"Electro-fied hip hop that sounds like it should be accompanying a particularly mucky pole dance" - Front
