Waxist Selecta Red Stripe Disco
Waxist Selecta - Red Stripe Disco - A vinyl journey through Jamaican related disco-soul productions!
(MP3 Podcast on www.ParisDJs.com) 2011-04-07

Waxist Selecta, a long-time ParisDJs.com reader (and even Djouls.com before), french record collector with a passion for all kinds of black music, is regularly playing some groovy vinyl-only selections in Paris, from Soul to Deep Funk, Brasil, Euro & French Grooves, Disco, Boogie Funk, Latin and Early/Soulful Reggae. He sent us a 2 hour collection of Jamaican-related disco-soul productions and rarities, from which we've extracted our own 50mn 'best-of'. All tracks are taken from original vinyl sources, of course, starting with the first Waxist Selecta re-edit 7 inch, RED STRIPE DISCO 001, available from all good record stores now!

We've reached 1985 and most of music is in a really bad shape. Music marketing is starting to morph thanks to the Grateful Dead who re-invented the direct-to-fan business the previous year, but music production is still hitting an unsurpassed low, almost everywhere. It might come as a surprise to...

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents 1984 - Standards, Versions and Revamps Vol.25

1984 is the tipping point, the limit before things start to go really sideways for a few years in music… Out of the 12 tracks we picked here, two were already released in 1982 on small labels or pressings, and one was recorded live in Japan in 1983, so we're cheating a little bit. But the point is...
