The Bug - Infected EP
(2x12"/Download) Ninja Tune ZEN12273/ZENDNLS173, 2010-11-15
Infected'is a double 12" featuring vocals by Hitomi and Roots Manuva + remixes by Autechre and Scratcha DVA. It's a bridge between the acclaimed London Zoo album and The Bug's forthcoming dub battle with legendary producer Adrian Sherwood. Having emerged with notable critical acclaim for last year's King Midas Sound album Waiting For You, Kevin Martin reunites with King Midas Sound vocalist Hitomi for the lead track Catch A Fire and reworks Skeng into a harrowingly sick protest song recalling 80's pop-realist classic Ghost Town by The Specials. Catch A Fire features Justin Broadrick (Jesu/Pale Sketcher, and ex Godflesh) albeit fleetingly, with an ear catching guitar drop in the centre of the tune. This is their first work together since the infamous Techno Animal albums they worked on together...

THE BUG -"INFECTED EP" Featuring vocals by Hitomi + Roots Manuva + remixes by Autechre + Scratcha DVA - Out 15th November (Ninja Tune)
'Infected' is a double 12" and is a bridge between the acclaimed 'London Zoo' album and The Bug's forthcoming dub battle with legendary producer Adrian Sherwood.
Having emerged with notable critical acclaim for last year's King Midas Sound album 'Waiting For You', Kevin Martin reunites with King Midas Sound vocalist Hitomi for the lead track 'Catch A Fire' and reworks 'Skeng' into a harrowingly sick protest song recalling 80's pop-realist classic 'Ghost Town' by The Specials. Catch A Fire features Justin Broadrick (Jesu/Pale Sketcher, and ex Godflesh) albeit fleetingly, with an ear catching guitar drop in the centre of the tune. This is their first work together since the infamous Techno Animal albums they worked on together...
Next up Martin utilises the same deep dub styles he pioneered on 'Waiting For You', Martin continues to probe the genre's new forms further on the stomach churning bass assault of 'Tune In', which features the unmistakeable voice of Roots Manuva riding a mutant inversion of 'Poison Dart'. An MC Martin has long since attempted to hook up with, the killer combo, is a match made in urban hell, as Rodney Manuva summons the ghosts of London's urban sprawl to reak revenge on Babylon's Brotherhood with his verses of astro-lingual voodoo.
The second 12" features remixes personally commisioned by The Bug. Having heard a marathon 5 hour podcast by Warp records electro-accoustic dons Autechre. Noting they had included an early Bug track('Superbird' from 'Pressure') within that net-radio mix, he then invited them to remix his monster dubstep smash 'Skeng'. And Martin subsequently asked UK Funky's rising star(and Rinse FM's breakfast show host) Scratcha DVA to scramble 'Poison Dart' and ice the 4 track release. Having been previously blown away by Scratcha's awesome singles('New World Order' on DVA music and 'Natty'/'Ganja' on Hyperdub), The Bug felt that Warrior Queens anthemic threats would be suitably mobilized by DVA's filthy syncopations.
