Square Records 5 : Nirobi Edits

Square Records Nirobi EditsSquare Records Nirobi Edits

The Square Records series of strictly limited 12 inches for DJs is maybe the best in the genre out there. Here's the 5th volume, with 4 cool and tested re-edits from Nirobi a.k.a. Robert Luis, A&R for Tru Thoughts Recordings in the UK. Things start with some heavy shit from the Talking Heads, Once In A Lifetime (Nirobi Edit). The original is a classic, a monster tune, but this re-edit is pure bonkers that's been and gonna tear the roof off in many clubs and parties! Heavily recommended for the vinyl DJ bags. Then you got Jill Scott's Lovely Day (Nirobi Edit). As cover fanatics (check our Molesting Laura series), we had checked her Bill Withers cover, and it wasn't raising any particular interest, but this rework is really a perfect choice for summerly vibe selection of covers! B-side opens with Nas & Damian Marley & Mulatu's As We Enter (Nirobi Edit). The original Mulatu track is already top-notch Ethio-groove material, adding some Nas & Damian Marley hip Hop verses on it is like the cherry on a cake, another must-have for vinyl DJs! The EP closes with Notorious B.I.G.'s Hypnotron (Nirobi Edit), a classic hip hop track updated for modern electro dancefloors. As this vinyl is stricly limited to 500 copies with no repress, you'd better hurry up.
