The third single from Speech Debelle's forthcoming debut album, "Speech Therapy", is the remarkable "Go Then, Bye". Occupying the classic genre of "break up" songs so confidently and fully it's almost like she invented it, Speech tells the story of the end of a relationship - the hurt, loneliness and anger - but without losing her sly grasp of detail and humour. Production here is provided by sometime bandmate and longtime friend Dread Keys who cooks up some slowburn soul and Motown strings round which Speech can do her diva thing - hurt and strong - in her own matter-of-fact South London way. One of the most honest, funny and heartfelt love songs you'll ever hear, "Go Then, Bye" is another indicator of a truly great talent.

Press Release :
"The hardest thing is to say goodbye
And harder than that is to not start cryin'
My strength has now become my weakness
Cos I wish the truth were a lie"

The third single from Speech Debelle's forthcoming debut album, "Speech Therapy," is the remarkable "Go Then, Bye". Occupying the classic genre of "break up" songs so confidently and fully it's almost like she invented it, Speech tells the story of the end of a relationship - the hurt, loneliness and anger - but without losing her sly grasp of detail and humour.

"But I'm not the one with the ex
That wouldn't stop ringing or sending texts
And you wouldn't tell her to stop
Rather save her feelings and make me vexed.
But this is my fault
I can see it from the start
She wouldn't stop opening her legs
But that's what I get for going for good sex"

Production here is provided by sometime bandmate and longtime friend Dread Keys who cooks up some slowburn soul and Motown strings round which Speech can do her diva thing - hurt and strong - in her own matter-of-fact South London way. One of the most honest, funny and heartfelt love songs you'll ever hear, "Go Then, Bye" is another indicator of a truly great talent.

"You took my heart like a thief
You emptied me out like a drum
But I'm not silly or dumb
So take your X-Box and go 'long."
