Press Release :
One More Reason brings Soothsayers love of dub to the fore - featuring legendary reggae vocalists Johnny Clarke, Michael Prophet and Linval Thompson alongside contributions from UK dub legends Mad Professor and Nick Manasseh - the album harnesses deep dub grooves to perfectly compliment the pulsating Afro-beat rhythms and the mighty horn arrangements that Soothsayers are well known for.

Drawing on a range of influences from Jah Wobble, Fela kuti, The Wailers, King Tubby and Lee 'Scratch' Perry to The Specials, Hugh Masakela, Roots Manuva and Massive Attack, One More Reason is infused with the musical culture of the band's base in Brixton, one of London's most culturally diverse neighbourhoods and was recorded in their SW2 based studios. They work-shopped the tunes at their legendary bi-monthly Red Earth Collective sessions at the Effra – a favorite hangout for musicians and music lovers in Brixton – before band-leaders and producers Idris Rahman and Robin Hopcraft created the heady brew that is One More Reason from a melting-pot of 24 carat dub, afro-beat, and deep-funk grooves.

Noted for their blistering shows, Soothsayers have been kicking up a live storm with their organic mix of reggae, afro-beat, funk and urban jazz for over 10 years. But where their debut Lost City drew on jazz and African music and acclaimed follow-up Tangled Roots channeled funk and hip-hop alongside afro-beat and reggae, One More Reason brings together all these elements with beautiful cohesion under a distinctive dub-infused soundscape.

Led by trumpeter Hopcraft and saxophonist Rahman, Soothsayers also features Idris' sister Zoe Rahman on keys (with whom Idris recently released the critically acclaimed Where Rivers Meet), guitarists Phil Dawson and Derek Johnson, bassist Kodjovi Kush, drummer Patrick Illingworth, percussionists Spry and Satin Singh , vocalist Julia Biel and a host of guest musicians including South African veteran Lucky Ranku.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
