Smith & The Honey Badgers - The Honey Badger Strut (7", Lunch Money Records, 2014)

Smith and The Honey Badgers

Raw soul & sweet funk are on the menu of this first single of East London-based 7 piece funk and soul band Smith & The Honey Badgers. The A-side, 'The Honey Badger Strut' is one we seriously considered for Paris DJs first funk/soul compilation. With its gritty and raw vibe, it could have fit perfectly [but we felt we had many tracks with the same kind of groove & energy, so some we had to let go to give the whole a coherence in the diverse colors of funk & soul…]. This roaring tune is pure fire for sure, we played it on repeat for months this year so no hesitation. So glad to see it released on a nice little 45 with a dope covert artwork… and the sweet soul ballad on the b-side ain't bad either! Coolness on vinyl.
