Ça y est. Le mix de rock, jazz, blues et de soul prend. Personne n'a encore entendu ÇA. L'année d'après, à Woodstock, Sly & the Family Stone vont retourner le public. On parlera de 'plus grande performance de tous les temps'. Parce qu'on a jamais vu ÇA. Dance to the music représente le début du réel succès commercial de Sly & the Family Stone. La chanson-titre rentrera dans le top ten R&B, mais on peut encore faire des reproches à ce disque: même s'il est beaucoup plus abouti, beaucoup plus funk et plus psyché que Life ou A whole new thing, il est quand même plus pop que ce qui va suivre, l'explosion psychédélique de Stand, premier véritable chef d'oeuvre. Cela dit, si vous avez les moyens, n'hésitez pas, prenez la totale. Il y a cent fois plus de talent là-dedans que dans 100% de la soupe indigeste "air-end-bi" (par exemple) actuelle...
