Live Up featuring The People's Army and Mighty Moe (Heartless Crew) is out as a digital single on 17th October - the first official release from the former London Posse man Rodney P since he signed to Tru Thoughts earlier this year, causing a wave of excitement throughout the media, and much anticipation for new music. A stand-alone single channelling the restless mood of our times and issuing a rallying cry, in the wake of student protests and then the August riots which made headlines around the World, this cut is as timely as it is catchy; the lyrics are purely uplifting hip hop as each MC on this posse track has their turn to spit some positive verses. A viral single for the smartphone generation.

Press Release :
"Live Up" featuring The People's Army and Mighty Moe (Heartless Crew) is out as a digital single on 17th October - the first official release from the former London Posse man Rodney P since he signed to Tru Thoughts earlier this year, causing a wave of excitement throughout the media, and much anticipation for new music.

Rodney P had organised the video shoot for "Live Up", filmed around London, earlier in 2011 at the time of the UK student protests against the lack of free higher education. After the UK riots that took place this summer, Tru Thoughts boss Robert Luis was eager to put something out there on the label to try and reflect the situation as he knew many real people were seeing it. He gave Rodney a call: "I knew Rodney would be feeling this too, and would more than likely have something in the pipeline, because he's always been a natural spokesperson for London's streets. Sure enough, he said he had this track and video that just needed to be finished up. He played it to me and it's just great, and I knew I should get it out there".

The video had already amassed almost 10,000 YouTube hits in a week on Rodney's YouTube channel, with no promotion, demonstrating a demand for the song that has prompted the label to just put it out as quickly as possible; it is available to buy direct now, from www.etchshop.co.uk, in advance of the official release date. The release also features a Remix, plus the instrumental and a cappella cuts.

A true pioneer who inspired a whole generation of hip hop/grime MCs and has worked with artists as diverse as MJ Cole, Roni Size, Bjork and Nitin Sawhney, Rodney P is still as relevant as ever and Tru Thoughts are excited to announce that there is a lot more new music on its way. Look out in 2012 for the Sleepin' Giantz project, a truly awesome collaboration between Rodney P, Fallacy and Zed Bias, which has been much rumoured in the blog world, not to mention upfront leaked tracks being played on BBC Radio 1. This will be followed by a reissue of the all time classic London Posse album 'Gangster Chronicle' (voted the Most Important UK Hip Hop Album of All Time in 2007 by Hip Hop Connection magazine) which set the Posse on the way to stardom back in the early '90s, introducing the World to Rodney's inimitable London accent and homegrown hip hop/reggae sound. The re-release will boast previously unheard London Posse tracks and a host of brand new remixes from some of the biggest names around; in addition to the famous names, all the parts for one classic LP track are being uploaded and made ready for an open remix campaign which will be launched online, details of which will be announced soon. Then comes what will surely be one of the most highly anticipated hip hop releases of next year - Rodney P's new solo album, unveiling his first new solo material for a while, with some amazing special guests. More news on all that is imminent.

Rodney P will be co-hosting the massive Tru Thoughts Showcase night at Koko, London on 19th November. More live dates tba.
