Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Mr. Chop

Paris DJs Soundsystem presents Mr. Chop

Welcome to the groovy noise and heavy drums world of Mr. Chop, the multi-talented producer, engineer, and multi-instrumentalist we recently interviewed (read it here) and featured in our top 10 albums of 2011. This introductory mix, resented in collaboration with Now-Again Records, was something Paris DJs wanted to do for a long time, and our enthousiasm must have spreaded to Mr. Chop since he enthousiasticaly produced 2 new exclusive tracks just in time for this blend of his productions. This one's for the heavy psychedelic music lovers, pure hip hop-spirited, hard, fuzzy and funky grooves on acid!

Andrew Jervis - California Dreaming

Andrew Jervis California Dreamin

Andrew Jervis invited us to do a mix for his brand new website The Sport of Selection (info here), we couldn't pass on inviting him back on Paris DJs… "I wanted to do a mix of folksy soul music that felt Californian, and captured a sunny Springtime vibe. Not all the artists featured come from California. But as I discovered when I moved here, few people are truly from California. We just move here, soak it all in, and help turn the place into something truly eclectic. So here's a selection of sounds featuring what you might think of when some says California - acoustic guitars, hippy love songs, and some soulful protesting. There are also some newer innovative left coast beats and tracks with a tropical folk vibe. Hope you like!" (Andrew Jervis)

Hazmat Modine - Blues & Brass Songbook

Hazmat Modine Blues and Brass Songbook

We are a kind of post-modern-ethno-Jugband says Hazmat Modine's frontman Wade Schuman in the long interview we've just published (read it here). A man of many passions, Wade composes his unique and rich sound like a golden age painter would choose different colours, textures, frames and materials. It's a variegated world full of strange or mundane animals, filled with tiny sounds from nature. Even if the core of what Hazmat Modine does is blues, the musical influences spectrum and tastes of the band, revealed in this exclusive mix, are almost infinite. You'll meet some longtime Hazmat friends and collaborators (Natalie Merchant, Gangbé Brass band, The Wiyos...)  as well as living or dead harmonica blues legends... Don't miss the band as it is back in Europe this Spring (Gigs details here), beginning its tour in Paris May 24th at Le Studio de L'Ermitage!
