Paris DJs Private Record Store new arrivals & back in stock vinyl #1

Our little record store in the north-east of Paris is slowly but surely becoming a thing, with more and more friendly people coming by to grab the vinyl (or CDs) they've reserved on our discogs page. We were known for welcoming bands and artists to "studio time & diner", now diggers from all ages are enjoying a cup of coffee and some music small talk...

For those and all the others, it was high time we started publishing some recommandations out of the nearly 12.000 CDs and records we have for sell out there. So let's start with some "new releases" and "back in stock" vinyl selections!

NEW ARRIVALS

Ambiance - Gida-Gida
(LP, High Jazz, 2017) buy

After appearing on one of those cool specialized blogs out there in 2015 (Vinyl Frontier), this marvelous privately-pressed spiritual jazz/latin fusion/modern soul LP from 1981 in Los Angeles is finally available again. No fillers on this one, wonderful all along, featuring the soulful vocals of Syreeta Wright on "There Is A Love" - don't sleep!

Burnin Beat - It's Hot
(12", Afrosynth, 2017) buy

A South African disco rarity from 1979 reissued by Johannesburg-based Afrosynth Records. This one-time session was recently revived through the interest of a few diggers, among which the highy-respected Dj Harvey. 11 minutes of pure disco bliss, don't pass on this one!

Elektro-Dschungel - Kebab und andere Träume
(LP, Edition Dschungel , 2017) buy

An anniversary reissue of an album privately released 30 years ago, this unique LP was produced in 1987 by Winfried Nacked with Turkish, German, Iranian, Polish & Moroccan students. Expect multicultural music, blending new wave, Turkish pop, Oriental rock, funk & soul, and absolutely nothing sounding similar!

Grotto – "Wait... No Hurry"
(LP, Odion Livingstone, 2017) buy

Following up on the reissue of their psychedelic rock-inspired 1977 debut album a few months earlier, here's Grotto's second album from Nigeria, 1978, more funk-oriented, full of trippy Moog, worth the purchase if only for the big, synth-heavy tune "Bad City Girl" (even it it was already featured in the "Lagos Disco Inferno" compilation from 2010).

Hamad Kalkaba And The Golden Sounds - 1974-1975
(LP, Analog Africa, 2017) buy

Assembling three rare-as-hell 45s released in the mid-1970s, the latest Analog Africa reissue is another must-have. After the "Cameroon Disco" sound of their "Pop Makossa" compilation from last year, this LP gathers mighty North Cameroon rhythms & golden psychedelic African funk to soothe your digging musical needs.

Shams Dinn - شمس دين
(LP, Smiling C, 2018) buy

This compilation LP gathers released and unreleased works by Arabic rapper Shams Dinn, recorded between 1985 and 1990 in Morocco. The man had one of the best Arabic flows of the era, he nearly put out an album on a major label, alas the Gulf War happened and the label asked the him to rap in French instead. Shams Dinn's career of course stopped there… The anthology reissue comes with newly imagined art, plus an inner sleeve with interview and photos.

Various - Duomo Sounds Ltd. Nigerian 80's Disco Music to Move Your Soul
(2LP, SPA Livingstone, 2017) buy

A compilation of disco, funk, boogie and soul tunes from The Duomo Music label in early 1980s Lagos. Half of it is dancefloor-ready afro-disco grooves for sure, but there's also another half of that funky soul thing from Nigerian and Ghanian producers of the era. Global DJs will need this in their bag.

Various - Pantsula! - The Rise Of Electronic Dance Music In South Africa, 1988-90
(2LP, Rush Hour, 2017) buy

Selected by DJ Okapi and Antal, here's a selection of South African dance music from the late 80s, when a more electronic sound started to spread. That music was called "Pantsula" at the time, it was a dancing style which looks today like a kind of breakdance hybrid with new-wavish/baggy clothes. A unique trip back into the past.

BACK IN STOCK

Ali Kuru - Egzotik
(2LP, Leng, 2017) buy

Mesmerizing beatdown worldtronica from Istanbul-based Ali Kuru. Downtempo subtlety at its finest! And props for naming a track "Ashoka"...

Livy Ekemezie - Friday Night
(LP, Odion Livingstone, 2017) buy

Killer Afro-boogie from 1983 Nigeria. You're gonna love those infectious basslines if you haven't already.

Various - Crown Ruler Sound compiled by Jeremy Spellacey
(2LP, Spacetalk, 2017) buy

Stunning compilation, probably the best of 2017! Assembled by Melbourne-based digger Jeremy Spellacey, this tropical program will bring, besides musical discoveries of course, uplifting sunshine into your life for sure. Highly recommended!

Various - Space Echo - The Mystery Behind The Cosmic Sound Of Cabo Verde Finally Revealed!
(2LP, Analog Africa, 2016) buy

Out of stock for a few months, this gem of Cabo-Verde psychedelic grooves and highly-energetic funaná rhythms, the "Tropical compilation of the summer 2016" as we said on the sticker, is finally repressed. Now's your chance to put those mad tunes into your DJ bag!

Various - Synthesize the Soul: Astro-Atlantic Hypnotica from the Cape Verde Islands 1973-1988
(2LP, Ostinato, 2017) buy

The companion piece to the "Space Echo" above, in the exact same vein as as essential. The two other compilations released by Brooklyn-based Ostinato Records are deeply recommended too, namely d and "Sweet As Broken Dates: Lost Somali Tapes from the Horn of Africa".

Various - Surinam Funk Force - More Boogie, Disco & Funk From The Surinamese Dancefloors!
(2LP, Rush Hour, 2016) buy

Decades of digging Netherlands' flea markets got Amsterdam's Rush Hour label/store/distributor to be able to compile two volumes of late 70s/early 80s funk & disco tunes, taken from very hard to find Surinam 45s and LPs. Surinam was a Dutch colony so it all makes sense…

I've been exploring this issue for about three weeks at this point and this is the 1st page which actually makes sense. How come it's really hard to locate effective advice on the topic of security nowadays? Certainly understand the energy you spent getting your ideas in to words so newbies such as me can take action. Could there be a part two for your page? Thanks again!

Great post! I'm looking to have my back pain treated in the Chicago south suburbs near Tinley Park, IL. I have a herniated disc and was wondering what the differences are between procedures like ACDF, XLIF, and TLIF.
