Press Release :
This mix takes the golden era of hip hop and gives it a fresh update for 2009. Para takes elements from classic hip hop tracks, layering new school beats over mid school hip hop music and adding classic raps. The result is a free flowing mash up that is held together by Para's skills on the blends, cuts and scratches.

He keeps the dance floor in mind throughout the mix and maintains a steady uptempo groove from start to finish. Listen closely and revel in the attention to detail! Tricky stuff!

Biography :
Para is an all rounder. DJing and production both come naturally to him and he's been involved in all elements of hip hop in his home town of Swindon, from the late 80's.

After experimenting with all elements of the genre he focused on DJing in the early 90's, beginning with a series of Mix -tapes which he would hand out locally. These developed into a series of cut and paste mixes that took the idea him to the next level. He was soon recognised as the South West's finest turntablist, battling all comers and always coming out on top.

One of Para's releases "The Saxton Collection" (released 2005) received rave reviews worldwide and even earned the tag of "mix of the year" from DJ Yoda in Hip Hop Connection. This was followed by "Feats per Minute" (feat Yoda himself - he was so impressed he joined in!) another cut and paste style mix that fuses snippets of records from many musical genres in an innovative and original style. His skills didn't go unnoticed on an international level ,one of his scratch tracks was released on "The Return of the Bomb DJ" which over the years has featured the worlds greatest Hip-Hop DJs.

He also started putting out his own Scratch Tools and Battle Weapons on his own label Hotshot in the early 2000's, cementing his rep as one of the UK's top turntablists.

As any good DJ does, Para complemented his skills with a love for digging breaks and finding records other DJ's couldn't pull out. This led naturally into the realms of production and when Breakin Bread heard his own beats they knew they had to sign him. Breakin Bread don't release average head nodding hip hop, as head honcho Skeg says "we focus on tracks for the dancefloor, everything we've put out has been aimed at shaking asses!" Para answers this call perfectly and fits nicely into the Breakin Bread stable as a purveyor of quality, breakbeat tinged, funky as hell, dancefloor music.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
