Moodymann Anotha Black Sunday

Info :
5 track album with two previously released tracks in alternate versions (his mix of Jose James's 'Desire' and 'Rectify') and three new cuts have that distinct jazzfunk/house vibe. Limited pressing... Tip! (Source : rushhour.nl)

The second mini album in a very short space of time from Moodymann, or Moody, as he seems to be calling himself these days. A ubiquitous mix of Kenny's trademark gospel house sounds and speakeasy joint jazz - this one takes some beating. Simply wonderful and super-limited. (Source: piccadillyrecords.com)

The Moody one returns for '09, dropping the 'mann' suffix for this release, presumably just because he felt like it. 'Another Black Sunday' is another incomparable set of smoky lowlit KDJ joints for use in whatever situation takes your fancy, be it the bedroom, the club, the bar or church, this will sound butter anywhere. You get five tracks for your Benjamins this time, running from freeform percussive session jam 'Mamma's hand' with wandering double basslines and sweetly jazzed percussion, to foot stomping interlude 'Anotha Black Sunday' on the A, or two fully formed songs on the flip with the vibes cushioned 'Desire' featuring longtime vocal spar Jose James, or yet another version of KDJ standard 'Rectify' to put it right. Also special mention to the inner sleeve, we won't spoiL the surprise for you but it's safe to say it raised a few giggles in the office. The real good stuff - GET IN. (Source : boomkat.com)

Amidst a dishwater sea of copyists and a wasteland of pedestrian house records, no one should take for granted the experimental, inspired jazz-soul of Moodymann. With an ace update of Jose James' Desire And Love. (honestjons.com)
