Press Release :
Mercury nominated British singer songwriter Lou Rhodes returns with her third solo album "One Good Thing", released March 14th through Motion Audio.

'One Good Thing' brilliantly and beautifully reflects the very natural talent of one of Britain's most accomplished and unconventional singer songwriters. Recorded in just two weeks in live takes with minimal editing and overdubs the result is a record of disarming honesty.

"Most of the music I'm inspired by was either recorded years ago or uses similar old-school analogue techniques. I guess if I had a reference point for the recording of this record it'd be stuff like Nick Drake's 'Five Leaves Left' or Nico's 'Chelsea Girl'. Basically guitar and voice recorded together as it's played with the sound of a room rather than a deadened vocal booth. Then the addition of beautiful, simple strings and the odd frame drum..." (Lou Rhodes)

This record charts the last two years of her life, from the very painful loss of her sister in 'Janey', through the heartbreak of 'The Ocean' to the rebirth of 'One Good Thing'.

'There For The Taking' the second track on the album, will be released from today as a free download single via lourhodes.com. The single will be released with a B-Side "Falling Down" on the December 14th through all good online retailers.

"With 'There For The Taking' I wanted to express the way that, if we just stop and fall back into the arms of the universe for a moment, she usually comes through." (Lou Rhodes)

Rhodes will be releasing the album through The Cinematic Orchestra's new label Motion Audio on March 14th 2010. Motion Audio is distributed by Ninja Tune.

Rhodes will be playing a number of intimate UK shows to preview new material this winter.

Speech Debelle - Freedom Of Speech
(CD/LP/Digital) Big Dada Recordings BD193, 2012-02-06

Two years since winning the 2009 Mercury Music Prize for her debut album, Speech Therapy, and having ridden a rollercoaster through life since then, Speech Debelle is ready to drop her second collection of music. Entitled Freedom of Speech, the album sees Speech turning from introspection to stand up, face and engage with the world around her, spitting confident themes of revolution and love. A first taste of the album came in the aftermath of this summer's riots, when Speech reacted immediately, leaking the track Blaze Up A Fire, (also featuring Roots ManuvaRealism), a track about political revolution written months before. Now the build-up begins to the release of Freedom of Speech in early February 2012 with the free download of the track Studio Backpack Rap. From political to musical revolution, Speech describes the track as being "all about virtual instrumentation and an ode to KwesSpeech Therapy, while showcasing just one aspect of her remarkable new album.
