Los Kintos - Vol.III (CD/LP, Abanico Records, 2015)

A package landed at the door coming from an Italian label… and inside a big surprise: an unissued 1970 album/LP from Peruvian band Los Kintos! The band was spotted recently only in the 'Bugalu Tropical Gozalo! Vol.4' compilation from Vampisoul in 2011, but they're one of the best from 70's Peru latin scene. Their first, late 60s albums, 'Los Kintos' and 'Tin Marin', are worth a few hundreds on the collectors market, and this third one, gathering a collection of killer Guaguanco, Salsa and Guaracha 45s released only in Peru on the Discos Mag label, finally sees the light of day after nearly 50 years thanks to the efforts of Italian label Abanico Records. The latter had originally contacted Mag in Peru to license two Los Kintos tunes for a 45 reissue. They found out those two tunes were part of a full LP recorded in 1969 but never released as such, appearing only on very rare 45s back in the day. DJs are gonna dig those underground latin & tropical songs. Salsa Dancers will love them! Now, record buyers be fast, because the CD and LP versions (with two different artworks!) are limited to 500 copies each.
