'A new soul sensation operates from the Lowlands'
An organic connection between a number of missionaries from the Dutch and English soul and funk scene has resulted in a hard hittin' band and a smashin' debut album. This year the world will meet Laura Vane & The Vipertones!
At the beginning of July 2009, the first single 'Am I Dreaming?' will be released. This is an up-tempo soul song with a driving Motown groove, a moving bassline and a catchy chorus. We think this is the best of soul this summer!
In August the album will be released on Social Beats / Unique Records. Meanwhile the band has been performing all over Europe at clubs and festivals in the Netherlands. Germany has already experienced the unparalleled, pure and funky energy of vampy Vane and her impressive band.
Earlier this year the band released an introductory 7” with the irresistibly danceable 'Steam', and 'Man of your Word' as the B-side. As a result, these tracks are regularly playlisted by many well respected deejays all over Europe like Francesco Adinolfi (Rai 2, Italy), Paul Thornton (UK), Snowboy (UK) and Craig Charles (BBC).
Laura Vane has been a dynamic presence in the UK music scene for some time and has worked as a vocalist for major artists; Gnarls Barkley, The Streets and Omar. She can also be heard as lead vocalist for several soul, jazz and dance projects like Diesler, Part Time Heroes, Hint and Hardkandy. After all these collaborations, the time has finally come to concentrate on her own material. Meeting The Vipertones helped realise this vision and made it entirely possible. In less than 2 months their debut album was written and recorded.
Laura Vane & The Vipertones in the studio are Laura Vane (vocals), Ton van der Kolk (bass, guitars), Phil Martin (drums, production) and Jonathan Radford (production). Live on stage with Laura Vane & the Vipertones is an 8 piece band with additional horns and hammond organ.
