Jimi Tenor - Order Of Nothingness (7", Philophon, 2016)

After a series of hard to pigeonhole fantastic Ethio/Afro/jazz/reggae or hip hop 45s (with Hailu Mergia, Idris Ackamoor, Roy X and Guy One…), and the marvelous Polyversal Souls album, Max Whitefield's Philophon label will put out next month a seven inch from Finnish producer/multi-intrumentalist Jimi Tenor. Lyrics on the A-side feature some "mushrooms of devious" which seem very interesting… and fitting quite nicely with the music: a bit like Canterbury kind of UK folk meets Afrobeat. This is VERY cool, with a unique taste in the ears. The B-side, in a 21st jazz vein, sound more "obvious", in the sense that it sounds like Jimi Tenor vs Max Whitefield kind of music. Will buy this one for sure.

Press Release :
The sixth 45 from fledgling German label, Philophon – founded and run by Max Weissenfeldt of Poets of Rhythm and Whitefield Brothers fame – comes from renowned Finnish producer and musician; Jimi Tenor.

The unique multidirectional artist visited Philophon's Joy Sound Studios for the first time and created another example that showcases him as one of the spearheading creative minds of our time.

On Order Of Nothingness he takes the listener by his hand to follow him into a multidimensional experience of psychedelic afrobeat. On the top of the driving groove of B-side, Tropical Eel, Jimi lets his fingers dance on the Hammond Extra-Voice, that rare tube based proto-synth which was introduced in the same year that Yuri Gagarin became the first human in outer space: Jimi - proto-synth - outer space. That's a very logical order!
