Grant Phabao presents The Jays - Zion Holy Place (Digital Single, Paris DJs, 2014)

Grant Phabao The Jays Zion Holy Place

Already the 5th single extracted from the sublime 'Stepping Up In Time' album from Jamaican vocal trio The Jays, 'Zion Holy Place' first appeared in 2009 as the b-side of the 'Don't Sell Your Soul', a 45 pressed in Jamaica at 100 copies only…

But this flipside was not the original version, instead a jazz rework had taken its place, and it was that same jazz version you could hear on the album released digitally at the end of march, 2013, entirely produced by Frenchman extraordinaire Grant Phabao.

Finally seeing the light of day, here's the original version of 'Zion Holy Place', a purely roots natty roots tune, strictly one drop and uplifting, and 100% exclusive to this single! It would have been a deep shame to keep this reggae classic under wraps.

Also unreleased until now, the 'Rockers Rework' drives the song forward with insistence on the first and third beats (as opposed to second and fourth beats of rock music), for a more Sly & Robbie-esque take on the righteousness-celebrating tune, full of confidence and pride!
