Press Release :
From the underground to the higher-ground, Fat Freddy's Drop is the South Pacific soul monster doing it for the love of music, and food!

The essence of Freddy's hi-tek dub-soul boil up is hypnotic live performance, mixed with savvy independent CD, vinyl and DVD releases, all served on Island Time.

Freddy's watershed year was 2005 when the bros dropped their debut full-length album, Based On A True Story, re-writing musical history at home and unleashing the slow burning, future-funk voodoo worldwide.

The gigantic news for 2009 is that Freddy's is ready to shake loose with their new album Dr Boondigga & The Big BW. The long awaited release is available 26 May 2009 on CD and digi download. Dr Boondigga features nine phat tracks for your listening pleasure, with art and design by Mr Otis Frizzell. Dropping real soon on vinyl.

Too much Freddy's!

Review :
It seems like an eternity since New Zealand 7 piece dub soul collective released their first studio album ‘Based On A True Story' (DRP006) in 2005.

Blending hi-tech soul, jazz & reggae, the 7 strong New Zealand collective FAT FREDDY'S DROP have been winning an ever increasing global fan base since the release of their 200,000-selling (and 8 times platinum in NZ!!) debut.

Their devotional following, built up from incredible live shows and sales that are astounding taking into account their minimal promo push here, is ensuring follow up ‘Dr. Boondigga & The Big BW' is one of the most anticipated albums of 2009!

The first two sinlges, "The Camel", with ALICE RUSSELL helping out with renowned Freddys singer DALLAS TAMAIRA aka JOE DUKIE (whom legendary BBC anouncer Charlie Gillett named the "best soul singer in the world today"), & "Pull The Catch" have received a great response and give an indication of how the Freddys sound has evolved.

As FFD mastermind MU said "We're better songwriters, we're moving away from the big long jams that are probably more of a live thing. There was no external pressure. There was pressure to try and come up with something that's a natural progression.
