It seems like an eternity since New Zealand 7 piece dub soul collective released their first studio album ‘Based On A True Story' (DRP006) in 2005.
Blending hi-tech soul, jazz & reggae, the 7 strong New Zealand collective FAT FREDDY'S DROP have been winning an ever increasing global fan base since the release of their 200,000-selling (and 8 times platinum in NZ!!) debut.
Their devotional following, built up from incredible live shows and sales that are astounding taking into account their minimal promo push here, is ensuring follow up ‘Dr. Boondigga & The Big BW' is one of the most anticipated albums of 2009!

- Their myspace says : "Europe and UK releases not too far away - Vinyl Dropping Soon" and also : "Dr Boondigga & The Big BW available NOW worldwide – a world first live on fatfreddysdrop.com - digi downloads or we'll send you the cd anywhere in the world" They sure will find US distribution deal along the way but I understand that selling the first thousands directly is a LOT more money for the artists than going thru distributors directly. They don't need to push the record to sell it to fans. For more people than the fans, they'll go thru licensing and distrib deals - if they really feel they need it. (just my guess)
