In those troubled times, where the world goes upside down, we do need good medecine to cure our sorrows... Hopefully the good Doctor is back with a new remedy, a full LP set untitled Land-Escape.

Some may call it ambient jazz, some others avant-garde or contemporary, the music you're about to hear is the result of hours of rehearsals and musical 'rencontres' at Doctor L's studio. It's free and improvised music with attitude, definitely different and personnal stuff, uncompromised yet popular, one for the road or for your living room, a great combination of live sounds and studio wizardry.

©© les Freres Smith - the Smiths brothers - is a Paris based 14 piece collective specialized in afrobeat and ethio flavoured grooves. These music smugglers have been touring the French and European scenes for more than 10 years, always with the same blasting energy. Well known for its explosive live interventions, the band is now releasing its first real album after various collaborations with artists such as Tony Allen, Kutiman, Franck Biyong, or Kokolo, among others. Already accounting as a reference on the Parisian live scene and after a first 7" single on Melting Pot Music, the crew is now releasing its very first album!! 11 crazy afro joints mashed up with as many influences as there are family members in this band, and gathering the cream of the Parisian afrobeat family. Produced by les Freres Smith themselves with support and precious help by mythical afrobeat label Comet Records led by Eric Trosset, featuring the great Tony Allen and the crazy guitarist minister Oghene Kologbo from Fela's Africa 70, the album was mixed and mastered by experienced producer Grant Phabao (T.I.M.E.C.), with the help of afrobeat specialist Loik Dury (Kraked Records) who mixed one of the album's tracks.

Doctor L's new album is once again different!
Rather than classify it simply as music, the performer use sound to express feelings he cannot put into words. He's free, free to use sound in any style he may conceive, free to avoid the obligations of any debt to the rules of standard harmony or anything that has gone before him in music. He's free to observe these rules or break them.
Open Window is a walk through the musical universe. It explores new areas, plunges into territories never before investigated, says whatever it pleases without being concerned staying in any one musical bag.
Open Window is a lifestyle, it is beyond category. The sources of its words and music span the centuries. Its concept and interpretations are timeless and boundless. If its contribution can be summarized in a phrase, 'Open Windows' is the sound of now, encompassing all the yesterdays and all the todays in the limitless cosmos of sound.
