BBE is the home of quality underground disco. Everybody loves to dance to the quality sounds of yesteryear. BBE is single handedly bringing 70s and 80's dancefloor jams into the digital age. No more over repetitive best of no brainer track lists. This is record digging made easy. Hard to find gems now easy to get on cd and on your favourite online stores. Complete with bonus tracks. Al Kent's knowledge and passion about Disco music/culture is unsurpassed by his peers. He has a disco band and supplies records to the "Kings" of Disco. He's one of Dimitri from Paris's favourite DJs in the world playing disco music. And one of Joey Negro's who described him in Mixmag as "Scotland's answer to Walter Gibbons". He's released four rare disco compilations in recent years, all of which have sold out and are long overdue for a repress. He's released over 60 disco re-edits or remixes under various guises (who are the "Brown Brothers" anyway?), some of which are now collectors items in their own right distinguishing themselves from the glut of weekly edits by tune choice (this man knows all the tunes - he has all the tunes!), technical standard and production quality. His house productions have been released on everything from Hed Kandi to Azuli, as well as his own Million Dollar Disco label. Al Kent is the creative mind behind www.milliondollardisco.com, the world's leading web authority on Disco.

Press Release :
Disco Love is a series of fabulous disco records that you have probably never heard of. All superb records presented to you by the legendary Al Kent from the unlikeliest disco haven of Glasgow.

Al's been buying records a few years now, usually ignoring the in-demand or more obvious titles and searching a little harder for fabulous disco records that you have probably never heard of. Disco Love contains just some of them.

Not only that, but most of them are exclusive, unissued re-edits, spliced specially for this album by Mr. Kent. And he's mixed them all together for one disc.

Al's northern soul past can clearly be heard in his choice of tracks here - from gritty backstreet crackhouse recordings, to uplifting dancefloor gems, they're all records that could easily have rocked the Blackpool Mecca in its heyday (actually, some did).

If you like your disco music deep, soulful and/or funky, then you've come to the right place.

'In today's current disco loving climate, it's refreshing to see a DJ with so much history in the field and a passion that goes beyond the latest trends'.

It's worth mentioning that Al Kent only plays old music. To enhance his sets Al spends a crazy amount of time creating special edits. The likes of Kon (Off Track), Rahaan, Theo Parrish and Dimitri from Paris all want his edits when they hear them.

About Al Kent :
Al Kent was born in Scotland. His father was an avid record collector and had a cabinet full of them. And Whisky. Everything from Abba and Elvis to the Glitter Band and Buddy Holly was in there. What a load of shit they were.

In 1976 Al ran away from home to live in New York. Here, at the age of 8 he started attending the Loft and hanging out with Nicky Siano and a whole bunch of cool New York DJs with Italian names. In 1978 he was arrested for possession of PCP while guesting at Better Days with Tee Scott and deported back to Glasgow, where his dad was now getting into a bit more David Essex. He was shit too.

So Al opened his own club in Glasgow, based on his experiences in New York. With his pocket money he flew Richard Long over to kit it out and had Walter Gibbons DJ at the opening party. Since then he's bought lots of records, done the deejaying in lots of places, and recorded an orchestra too.

For the full story of The Million Dollar Orchestra see their biography, in short the album was recorded in the traditional way, mostly one take, in an analogue studio. The Sound is rich , lush, string laden, beautiful disco music, full of joy with phenomenal musicianship. It is Al Kent's  biography told in Music.

Al is currently working with Lynn from Ebonycuts on a time machine. This project should be completed soon, at which point the two will travel back in time and buy lots of records.

Venezuela 70 - Cosmic Visions Of A Latin American Earth - Venezuelan Experimental Rock In The 1970s (CD/2LP, Soul Jazz, 2016)

English label Soul Jazz Records released this summer a collection of experimental rock recorded in Venezuela in the 1970s, at a time when oil was flowing in abundance and consequently culture rather well subsidized. However, this music had never really got out of the country until now, it's really a...
