What's happening in Paris DJs headquarters? So many cool remixes have started to appear in our headphones these days... And all EXCLUSIVE!! After some mighty George Clinton soul reggae thang, a rare Philly soul reggae mashup of Lee McDonald (which will finally NOT be released - Favorite Recordings being run by a complete crook) and a supa-cool hip hop act from Rawkus Records, The Procussions, again dressed in classy reggae stylings, we're proud to offer a brand new Grant Phabao reggae remix of TY from Big Dada Records (Ninja Tune's hip hop sister label). Using the a capella from Don't What...

In those hard times when government individuals thrive more and more on the poor, it's really nice to meet educated and involved artists. The Procussions are that kind of people, nice, intelligent and with something to say, without ever losing their natural cool. This is rare enough to be pointed out... Their latest album, 5 Sparrows For 3 Cents, was released earlier this year in the US but only in november 2006 in Europe. It's top-of-the-notch L.A. hip hop, funky, old school, with plenty of sunshine, so we thought at Paris DJs headquarters that it could be a good idea to try and do a...

An incredible reggae soul remix that's been bootleged by the infamous thief that is Pascal Rioux / Favorite Recordings. We ordered him not to release this since his conditions were not interesting at all and since he had stolen thousands of euros from us in The Pusher Distribution company we had launched together but he did it anyway. He then sent us a letter saying he had sold the first pressing and was not pressing it again and that it was deleted from sale everywhere. Alas that was a lie and he put the mp3 on sale everywhere. It's still available in a few online stores as of January 2009....

"Hipsters into Afrobeat won't be disappointed with a new single from Antibalas (covering Sly Stone with Doctor L!!!), the first Budos Band album or the Dakataris reissue on Daptone Records, two Nomo albums (because we prefered the first one, released some time ago), and a french release from Fire Tongue and Chief Cook. That's what we call a grand buffet." (Djouls.com - 12 Reggae Dub World albums & singles for 2006 part 1)...

Forward thinking never ends with french cult producer Doctor L... After an astonishing series of 4 new INCREDIBLE albums in less than 2 years on his new label Mind (check djouls.com), and a collectable series of limited 7 and 12 inches concluding with an amazing cover of Sly Stone's "Family Affair", with brooklyn n°1 afrobeateers Antibalas (!), the Doctor is back with a collection of goodies from various projects once again aggregated into "Forgotten Tracks From Da Hard Drive", a full-flowing concept-album of electronic acid grooves, slams and vibes. Extracted from this...

This track is not for music categories, but for recipe books : take elements from a US West coast jazz/funk lounge number [For example, "The Immortality Project" by Seattle's funkateers The Mackrosoft]. Select the 70's groovy melody of the Fender Rhodes and wah-wah guitar, of course. Cherish the sax licks from multiple-man Skerik. Don't forget the organ stylings from former Beastie Boys collaborator Money Mark. Then get the whole thing drenched into deep dub territory by expert in sound manipulation Grant Phabao. Don't get lost into deep Studio One or Rhythm & Sound dub but...

Our second virtual release is a mix of samba and electronic grooves, with an undeniable measure of humor that revels in the duality of being both respectfully influenced by and satyrically critical of the Latin-meets-electronic music sound. The music in itself is a nice mix of Latin percussion and melodies, done up in a smooth, slightly French nu-jazz style....

Reggae meets Funk! Our first single is an unreleased remix of George Clinton's "U Ain't Runnin Shit" from his latest album "How Late Do U Have 2b B4 Ur Absent", carefully skanked by Grant Phabao into a sunshine piece of psycadelicreggaesoulthang. The track has been fully approved by the Dr. Funkenstein himself who visited us while in Paris for a supa-show at Le Zenith, along with Steel Pulse & The Gladiators!...
